Because bar stools vary in height and design, it is useful if you know what to look out for. In this way, you ensure that you choose a bar stool that not only looks good but also fits comfortably and fits precisely in your kitchen bar. Our design specialists give you advice and have listed the most important tips!
How high can the bar stool be?
Different bar stools have different heights. Most are 65 to 75 cm high, but there are also lower, higher and even adjustable stools! To choose the right height, take the height of your (kitchen) bar as a starting point. If you take into account space of 25 to 30 centimetres between the top of the leaf and the top of the seat, you are sure that you are in the right place! With these proportions you create a comfortable sitting position.
An adjustable or a fixed bar stool?
The advantage of an adjustable bar stool: you guessed it, it is adjustable! This way, everyone can adjust it to the desired seat height, which can be very useful if, for example, two people vary a lot in length or if the kids want to sit down. The hydraulic system works just like a desk chair on a gas spring, so that you can easily adjust the bar to your seat height.
Adjustable bar stools often stand in a fixed place at the bar, because they have a heavier, flat foot. This way they are very sturdy. These stools also usually have a swivel seat. This allows you to easily turn to and from the bar when you sit down, without having to push the stool to one side.
A fixed bar stool has a fixed seat height. It is therefore extra important that you take the height of your bar with you when purchasing. This type of stool is easier to move, which is very handy at a party and you want to add extra stools, or just want to get them all out of the kitchen. Fixed bar stools come in all shapes and sizes and most special designs, this is possible because there is no need to take into account the adjustment mechanism.
How many barstools do the bar fit?
The trick is that you take into account space of 60 cm for each stool that you place at the bar. That is the space that one needs to sit comfortably. To calculate this, simply divide the length of the bar by 60 cm, ét voila! Now you know how many stools you can put down!
